TACLOBAN CITY — A 13-year-old girl was placed under the custody of the social welfare office of Carigara town, Leyte after she fired a still unknown type of firearm inside their school on Monday, Jan. 16.
Based on the report from the regional headquarters of the Philippine National Police, the Grade 8 student, who was at the third floor of the school, took the firearm from her pocket and fired it downward, and even attempted to shoot her head.
Fortunately, a classmate was able to grab the firearm from her and threw it on the roof of the building.
No one was hurt in the incident.
Police said the girl obtained the firearm from her father, a businessman. The girl reportedly wanted to end her life due to family problems.
It was not clear yet if the father of the girl will be summoned by the police or the social welfare office as the firearm will still be subjected to ballistic examination.
