MANILA, Philippines — CEMEX Holdings Philippines, Inc. (CHP) and Manila Water Company, Inc. (Manila Water) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to collaborate and explore opportunities of mutual interest to meet both parties’ corporate sustainability objectives.
The intersection of business goals and strategic commitment of CHP and Manila Water makes this an attractive cooperation to further progress decarbonization and future energy.
Under the MOU, both parties can build and collaborate on initiatives accelerating sustainable objectives in a circular economy by using biosolids as alternative fuels.
CHP and Manila Water will also explore partnerships in innovation on sustainable products and services, protection and rehabilitation of biodiversity, and clean energy and efficient water consumption advocacy. The MOU will entail both parties collaborating and sharing knowledge, expertise, and practices on projects identified as part of the roadmap.
With more businesses considering climate change as one of its top risks and recognizing the Philippines as one of the most vulnerable to its impacts, the partnership between CHP and Manila Water seeks to reinforce the role of businesses in proposing better solutions in response to the climate crisis.
Present at the ceremony were CHP’s President & Chief Executive Officer, Luis Guillermo Franco Carrillo, and Vice President for Planning, Jesus Ortiz Dela Fuente, and Manila Water’s President and Chief Executive Officer, Jose Victor Emmanuel A. De Dios, and Chief Administrative Officer and Chief Operating Officer for International Business, Roberto Jose R. Locsin.
