It’s business as usual for immigration execs this Holy Week

MANILA, Philippines—It will be a working holiday for Bureau of Immigration officials who will process the arrival and departure of travelers this Holy Week.

Immigration Commissioner Ricardo David Jr. in an order issued Tuesday required 44 Immigration officials to report at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) on various work shifts from April 4 to 9.

Immigration Associate Commissioner Abdullah Mangotara and Executive Director Eric Dimaculangan, who will be on duty on Holy Wednesday and Black Saturday, respectively.

The others are the bureau’s division and section chiefs and heads of specialized offices and units, including 22 lawyers and several veteran immigration supervisors.

Immigration Associate Commissioner Siegfred Mison will oversee the bureau’s operations at the Diosdado Macapagal International Airport in Clark Field, Pampanga.

David said the order also serves as a warning to human traffickers that it’s business as usual at immigration despite the holidays.
