PUERTO PRINCESA CITY, Palawan — The body of a Chinese national was found floating Friday morning, Jan. 13, in the waters off a mining port causeway at Barangay Bato-bato, Narra town in this province.

Reports from the Palawan Police Provincial Office said the body of Xu Yongsheng, 34, an electrician at the DMCI Power Plant and a resident of Bato-bato, was found around 50 meters from the port.

Investigators from the Narra Municipal Police Office revealed that Xu was walking around 7 p.m. Thursday with a colleague identified only as Mr. Zhang around 7 p.m. The two then went to the other side of the port for a swim.

Later on, Zhang said he had a stomach ache and returned to their staff house. But when Zhang returned to the port, Xu was missing.

Zhang then sought assistance from other colleagues to search for Xu, but they failed to find him.

Narra police have requested the Municipal Health Office to conduct a postmortem to determine the cause of the death of Xu. INQ
