OVP donates 543 sacks of rice to flood-hit communities in Palawan

The Office of the Vice President - Disaster Operation Center (OVP-DOC) donated a total of 543 sacks of rice to communities affected by heavy rains that inundated several areas in Palawan.

MANILA, Philippines – The Office of the Vice President – Disaster Operation Center (OVP-DOC) donated 543 sacks of rice to communities affected by heavy rains that inundated several areas in Palawan.

Vice President Sara Duterte, in a social media post, said some 27,000 kilos of rice were distributed to 2,295 people in different evacuation centers in Sofronio Española and Brooke’s Point on Tuesday.

She then thanked the provincial government and disaster risk reduction and management office (PDRRMO) of Palawan and the Philippine Coast Guard for helping the OVP-DOC distribute the relief supplies.

The rice donated by the OVP-DOC, according to the Palawan PDRRMO, was repacked into family food packs by the provincial social welfare and development office before it was given out to the affected residents.

The state weather bureau on late Thursday afternoon said the LPA would continue to bring widespread over Eastern Visayas, Central Visayas and Negros Occidental.

LPA-induced scattered rain showers, meanwhile, are expected in Caraga, Northern Mindanao, Zamboanga Peninsula, Albay, Sorsogon, Masbate, Romblon and the rest of Visayas.  Niña Cuasay, INQUIRER.net trainee
