LUCENA CITY – A 17-year-old motorcyclist and his back rider died in a road accident in San Jose town, Batangas province, on Wednesday, Jan. 11.
In a report Thursday, the Batangas police said the unnamed motorcyclist and his pillion rider, Sonny Fred Masilang, 34, were traveling along a provincial road in Don Luis at the time of the accident.
Investigators said the motorcycle tried to overtake another vehicle when it accidentally slid and was hit by an oncoming Fuso aluminum van driven by Larry Despolon.
Despolon was flagged down by policemen several meters away from the accident site.
Both victims died while being taken to two hospitals due to grave injuries.
