New SSS chief officially assumes post, swears to continue ‘path of growth’

MANILA, Philippines — Rolando Ledesma Macasaet, appointed by President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. last week, began his duties as head of the Social Security System (SSS) on Wednesday, the agency announced.

In a Tuesday transition phase ceremony, Macasaet replaced former SSS President and Chief Executive Officer (PCEO) Michael Gonzales Regino.

“I will continue with the path of growth started by PCEO Regino and explore new ways for the benefit of members, pensioners, and other stakeholders…We will work doubly hard to provide our current members and pensioners what is just and due to them without jeopardizing the financial protection of members and future pensioners,” said Macasaet.

The new SSS chairman commended Regino for facilitating SSS reforms and efficiency.

“The records will show that under his leadership, the SSS achieved new heights in improved social security services, in better coverages and benefits to pensioners, in providing equitable loans, better investments, and improved collections,” he said.

Before assuming the post of PCEO, the SSS said that Macasaet had worked for Philippine National Construction Corporation, Dasmariñas Industrial Steel Corporation, Skyway Corporation, and Tierra Factors Corporation.

At the Philippine National Bank, Macasaet gained financial experience. He served on the boards of San Miguel Corporation, Bank of Commerce, Private Infrastructure and Development Corporation, and PCI Bank.
