Mandaue’s Cortes and Ouano unite

Rival Mandaue City politicians sealed their unity when Mayor Jonas Cortes attended the birthday of City Councilor Emmarie Dolores “Lolypop” Ouano-Dizon yesterday evening.

The erstwhile rival have only good words for each other.

Provincial Board member Teddy Ouano, former mayor and Lolypop’s father, declared their unity with erstwhile rival Cortes saying, “Mas dako gyud og makab-ot nga kaayohan ug kalamboan ang siyudad kon ang katawhan ilabi na ang mga kadakoan nagkahiusa.”

To this, Cortes responded, “This is also the dream of my father, to be in unity with other political leaders for the good of our beloved city.” / Norman V. Mendoza, Correspondent

Wife of deceased Danao councilor sworn to office

Alejandrita Meca, wife of deceased Danao City councilor Jesus Lazaro Meca, has officially took her oath of office in the governor’s office at the Capitol building, yesterday morning.

Meca was accompanied by Danao City Vice Mayor Ramon “Nito” Durano III when she was sworn to office by Cebu Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia .

Vice Mayor Durano said that they will assign Meca to chair the women’s committee.

The Bakud (Barug Alang sa Kauswagan ug Demokrasya) political party of Danao City appointed Alejandrita Meca to fill the seat her husband left.

Orphaned Aetas attend funeral

The minor children of slain Aeta couple Johnny and Marjilly Albero were allowed to return to their community Saturday to attend the funeral of their parents.

The minors aged 9, 7, 5 and 2 years old, and their grandmother and tribal chieftain Lilia Sanger were taken into custody by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) when it found that their home is not safe for them after their parents were murdered by still-unknown suspect last March 25 in Naga City./Jessa Chrisna Marie J.
