House Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez, Tingog Party-list Reps. Yedda Marie Romualdez and Jude Acidre have sent help to flood-stricken Filipinos in Mindanao, this time in Davao del Norte.

On Monday, the offices of the House leaders launched joint relief operations in various municipalities of the province, turning over P1 million in cash aid and more than 1,600 food packs worth P500,000.

Each pack contains three kilos of rice, three packets of instant noodles, three pieces of canned goods, and six sachets of 3-in-1 coffee.

The teams from the House sent aid to the affected barangays of Tagum City and the municipalities of New Corella, Asuncion, Kapalong, Carmen, and Braulio E. Dujali.

The relief packs produced by the Speaker’s office and Tingog Party list were an additional 3,000 family packs from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).

“This is the least we can do for our kababayans who were displaced by the floods. Rest assured that we will always be responsive to calls for assistance from disaster-stricken provinces. A little malasakit (concern) can go a long way, and we’re here to lend a hand,” said Romualdez.

The distribution of food packs and cash donation were done in coordination with Davao del Norte 2nd District Rep. Alan “Aldu” R. Dujali and Vice Governor De Carlo “Oyo” Uy, who provided the offices of the House officials with a list of recipients.

Speaker Romualdez is congressman of Leyte’s 1st district. Rep. Yedda Romualdez, his wife, is chairperson of the House Committee on Accounts, while Acidre is one of the Deputy Majority Leaders of the House.

Last month, they turned over 1,000 family food packs and 17,650 bottled water to Misamis Occidental after heavy rainfall caused floods and landslides in the province. Cash assistance of P2 million was also given to the province.
