DOH: Online post using Vergeire’s name in ‘fabricated scenario’ is false information
MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Health (DOH) on Sunday warned the public of another fabricated post circulating online, this time advertising a certain “cure” for heart disease.
According to the DOH in an advisory, the said post falsely attributed DOH officer-in-charge Maria Rosario Vergeire in order to spread false information.
“The DOH clarifies that no such scenario or statement has been made by the department and its officials,” it said.
The DOH then reminded the public that non-communicable diseases and comorbidities like heart disease and hypertension “can be prevented by practicing healthy habits and a healthy lifestyle such as proper diet and exercise among others.”
It also urged the public to get their regular or annual check-ups to detect and keep various illnesses at bay.
Furthermore, the DOH has once again reminded the public to make sure that any kind of health information is sourced only from the DOH’s legitimate and verified platforms.
