the Philippine National Police (PNP) said it wants clearer provisions to ensure that relevant evidence can be gathered to file “airtight cases” against peddlers of false information.

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police (PNP) is on heightened alert status to prepare for the Black Nazarene feast in Manila on January 9, and not because of an alleged destabilization plot inside the Armed Forces of the Philippines, PNP spokesperson Jean Fajardo said Saturday.

As for the alleged destabilization plot inside the military, Fajardo said the AFP should be the one to comment.

“With respect po doon sa isyu ng destabilization plot, issues relating po doon sa AFP organization, we really cannot comment on that, siguro the AFP is in the best position to answer that,” Fajardo said in an online press briefing when asked about the unconfirmed memo placing the entire PNP on “full alert status” due to alleged mass resignation within the Department of National Defense.

(With respect to the issue of the destabilization plot, and issues relating to the AFP organization, we really cannot comment on that, maybe the AFP is in the best position to answer that.)

“On the part of the PNP, what we could confirm po ay na naka-heightened alert po ang PNP because everybody must know po na nagsimula na po ang security coverage para sa Traslacion dito sa Manila,” Fajardo also said.

(On the part of the PNP, what we could confirm is we are on heightened alert because everybody must know that the security coverage for Traslacion in Manila has already begun.)
