DOH: Fireworks-related injuries now 307, higher by 62% than in 2022
MANILA, Philippines —There are now 307 fireworks-related injuries in the country after 16 new cases were recorded by the Department of Health (DOH).
The injuries were recorded from December 21 last year until Friday, January 6.
According to DOH officer-in-charge Maria Rosario Vergeire, the fireworks-related injuries recorded this year are 62-percent higher than last year’s.
“As of January 6, today, this morning, may additional 16 cases pa tayo. So, ang totality po natin is 307 cases, and this is 62 percent higher compared to last year,” Vergeire said in a forum on Friday.

“Nakakapagdulot po ng sakit at saka harm sa katawan natin, lalong-lalo na sa ating mga kabataan. So, iwasan po natin ang paggamit, lalo ng ‘yung mga illegal at hindi pinapayagan na firecrackers dito sa ating bansa,” she advised.
(Firecrackers can cause illness and harm to our bodies, especially in our youth. So, let us refrain from using it, especially firecrackers that are illegal and not allowed in our country.)
