DOH bares breakdown of 89 close contacts of 8 COVID-positive Filipinos from China
MANILA, Philippines — The eight Filipinos from China who tested positive for COVID-19 had 89 close contacts, the Department of Health (DOH) reported on Friday.
The DOH recently said eight unvaccinated Filipinos from China contracted COVID-19. The Bureau of Quarantine then reviewed the passenger manifests of the flights taken by the 8 infected Filipinos.
Health officer-in-charge Maria Rosario Vergeire, in a forum, provided the breakdown of the close contacts:
Flight 1
-19 close contacts (18 foreigners, 1 Filipino)

Flight 2
-23 close contacts (16 foreigners, 7 Filipinos)
-All are fully vaccinated
-All are asymptomatic
Flight 3
-27 close contacts (all Filipinos)
-All are vaccinated
-1 asymptomatic, 26 asymptomatic
Flight 4
-20 close contacts (12 foreigners, 8 Filipinos)
-19 fully vaccinated, 1 unvaccinated
-All are asymptomatic
“Lahat po ng close contacts na ito ay all under monitoring. They are going to be monitored every day until the time na tapos na po ang ating protocol for monitoring,” Vergeire said.

Meanwhile, Vergeire noted that the eight Filipinos who got COVID-19 exhibited mild symptoms.
“May iba nangangati lang ang lalamunan, ‘yung iba may sipon, ‘yung iba nilalagnat. Pero lahat ay mild. They are still in isolation being taken care of by our Bureau of Quarantine medical officials,” the official said.

Currently, the DOH is implementing heightened surveillance for all travelers entering the country amid the threat of COVID-19.
