ZAMBOANGA CITY—Armed men abducted mayor Jeffrey Lim of Salug town in Zamboanga del Norte at around 7 p.m. Monday.

Former Salug mayor Jesus Lim, the mayor’s father, told the Philippine Daily Inquirer by phone that his 36-year old son was walking at the bus terminal when eight to 10 armed men, wearing green shirts with “PNP” printed on it, snatched him.

“I feel bad about this. This is the first time to happen in my town. I don’t remember my son receiving any threats,” the elder Lim said.

Police reports disclosed that Lim was forced to board a yellow mini van, which was found abandoned in the village of Mukas an hour later.
