DOH logs 174 new COVID-19 infections; active cases at 12,362
MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Health (DOH) on Tuesday registered 174 new COVID-19 infections, with active cases decreasing further to 12,362.
These new infections brought the COVID-19 caseload to 4,200,225 nationwide, with 4,140,428 recoveries and 65,435 deaths.
These infections were also significantly lower than the 369 cases recorded on Monday.
Metro Manila continued to lead the list of regions with the most number of cases in the past two weeks with 2,906 cases, followed by Calabarzon with 1,386 and Central Luzon with 664.
In terms of areas with the most cases, Quezon City led with 670 infections followed by Cavite with 396 and Manila with 390.
Article continues after this advertisementMeanwhile, 8,434 tests were conducted on Monday, which will reflect the number of daily registered cases on Wednesday.
Earlier, the DOH assured the public that no cases of the XBB 1.5 subvariant of COVID-19 — said to be the driving force behind the surge in COVID-19 cases in the US — have been recorded in the country.
