Retired LTO employee found dead in Manila apartelle
MANILA, Philippines—A 56-year-old retired employee of the Land Transportation Office was found dead inside a room of an apartelle in Malate, Manila Sunday afternoon, the police said.
Mohamad Yasdi, a native of Zamboanga City, was discovered by his son Abdurajak, 30, inside the rented room at the Marivela Apartelle along Mabini Street in Malate at around 4 p.m. Sunday.
Senior Police Office 2 Ronald Gallo of the Manila Police District homicide section said the younger Yasdi was prompted to check on his father’s condition after the latter turned off his cellphone.
Upon finding his father lying motionless on the bed, Abdurajak immediately sought the assistance of a neighboring tenant.
They brought the elderly man to the Ospital ng Maynila but the effort proved futile.
Gallo pointed out that father and son last talked on the phone at around 10 p.m. Saturday. Yasdi had supposedly gone to Manila for a medical check-up at a nearby hospital, he added.
