Number coding is suspended for the week—MMDA
MANILA, Philippines—The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) reminded the public on Monday about the week-long suspension of the Unified Vehicular Volume Reduction Program (UVVRP), or the number coding scheme.
Joel Waje, a MMDA Metrobase official, said that except for Makati, the coding scheme in Metro Manila and Las Pinas, was lifted the entire week starting Monday until April 9, for the convenience of motorists who will leave for their provinces to observe the Holy Week.
For Makati, Waje said the suspension of the number coding will start on Thursday and will, likewise, end Monday next week.
In a separate interview, Lizelle Nepomuceno of North Luzon Expressway, and Monalisa Angco of South Luzon Expressway, said that the movement of traffic on both lanes of their areas is still light as of posting time, except along the Toll Plaza of Calamba, which is experiencing “moderate, but moving traffic,” Angco said.
They said the volume of motorists in their areas Monday is still normal, but is expected to increase by about 15 percent to 20 percent by Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
