Active COVID-19 cases in Olongapo City slightly up after Christmas holiday

After briefly obtaining a COVID-19-free status on Monday (Dec. 26), this city experienced a slight virus surge after six residents were infected by the disease, local data showed Thursday, Dec. 29.

OLONGAPO CITY–After briefly obtaining a COVID-19-free status on Monday (Dec. 26), this city experienced a slight virus surge after six residents were infected by the disease, local data showed Thursday, Dec. 29.

The new infections were registered between Tuesday and Wednesday, or after the city tallied zero new infections for four straight days.

Four of the new virus-infected patients were residents of Barangay Sta. Rita, while the other two were from the villages of East Bajac-Bajac and Old Cabalan.

The other 10 villages of the city remained free of COVID-19 cases as of Thursday.

Data also showed that the city’s death toll related to the disease remained at 370 since no new fatalities were logged in recent weeks.

Since the pandemic struck in 2020, the city has already posted 7,601 COVID-19 cases with 7,231 recoveries. INQ
