P340,000 worth of shabu seized in Caloocan — NPD

MANILA, Philippines — Around 50 grams of suspected crystal meth or shabu, estimated to be worth P340,000, were seized from three suspects in Grace Park, Caloocan City, the Northern Police District (NPD) said on Wednesday.

According to NPD Director Brig. Gen. Rogelio Peñones Jr., the Caloocan City Police Station’s Drug Enforcement Unit conducted the buy-bust operation along 12th Avenue in Caloocan’s Barangay 71, around 6:00 a.m. on Wednesday.

After the poseur buyer obtained the illegal substance, officers moved in to arrest the suspects, identified as Lolita Saavedra, 59; Robin Saavedra, 25; and Noemi Ebacuardo, 28.

Lolita and Robin were said to be residents of Marilao, Bulacan, while Ebacuardo hails from Caloocan’s Barangay 156.

Police managed to seize two medium-sized sachets with shabu weighing 50 grams, while a P1,000 bill and 49 other pieces of fake bills used as buy-bust money were also recovered.

NPD said the three suspects will face charges for violating Section 5 (Sale of Illegal Drugs) and Section 11 (Possession of Dangerous Drugs) of Republic Act No. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
