Missing Sorsogon teen found dead in Masbate

LEGAZPI CITY – A 19-year-old man who was reported missing in Sorsogon was found dead in San Fernando town in Masbate on Wednesday morning (Dec. 28).

Gremil Alexis Naz, Office of Civil Defense Bicol spokesperson, said the body of Geover Gaviño, a resident of Iroson, Sorsogon, was found by the residents at the seashore in Barangay (village) Resurrecion at around 7 a.m.

He was reported missing while swimming at a beach resort in Sta. Magdalena town in Sorsogon and was swept by strong waves on Dec. 23.

Naz said seven fishermen were still missing in the towns of Virac and Viga Catanduanes; two fishermen in Vinzons Camarines Norte and two others in Camarines Sur and Albay.

A total of six incidents of drowning were recorded in the region due to the effects of the shear line and northeast monsoon, Naz added.
