LEGAZPI CITY — Sea travel for small vessels in Sorsogon was suspended on Wednesday (Dec. 28) due to rough sea conditions.
In its 5 a.m. advisory, Commander Christian Jazmin of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) in Sorsogon said all small crafts with 250 gross tonnages or less were advised not to venture into the sea.
The larger vessels were also alerted of possible big waves due to the northeast monsoon affecting the southern seaboard of Southern Luzon.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said in its 5 a.m. bulletin that the Low-Pressure Area was spotted 475 kilometers east of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur.
Meanwhile, the Office of Civil Defense Bicol reported five deaths and 12 missing persons due to the effects of the shear line and northeast monsoon since last week.
