Goodbye Libreng Sakay: EDSA Carousel free ride ending by yearend

MANILA, Philippines —The 24/7 Libreng Sakay sa EDSA Bus Carousel, a program from the Department of Transportation (DOTr) and the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB), will have its last run on Saturday, December 31, 2022.
“Simula ika-1 ng Enero 2023 ganap na alas-5 ng umaga (5am) ay may bayad na ang pamasahe mula PITX hanggang Monumento (vice versa),” the LTFRB in a Facebook post.
(Starting January 1, 2023 at 5 a.m.,fares will be collected from passengers from PITX to Monumento and vice versa).
According to the LTFRB, 80,832,186 passengers availed of thefree service as of December 27, while 87 operators and 751 public utility vehicles took part in the program.
The DOTr implemented the 24/7 free rides in the carousel for the whole month of December in anticipation of the Christmas rush.
