DOH notes 45% increase in flu cases in 2022

The Department of Health (DOH) on Tuesday said there has been a 45 percent increase in influenza-like illness this year.

MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Health (DOH) on Tuesday said there had been a 45 percent increase in influenza-like illness this year.

In data shared with reporters, the DOH said there were 114,278 cases of influenza-like illnesses from January 1 to December 3, 2022.

“This is higher by 45 percent when compared to cases during the same time period last year,” the DOH said in its report.

There were only 78,550 cases of influenza in the same period in 2021.

The DOH also noted that of the said flu-related illness, 32,778 or 29 percent are ages 1 to 4 years old.
