DOH logs 666 new COVID-19 infections on Christmas day; active tally down to 15,937

MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Health (DOH) on Christmas recorded 666 new infections, with active cases decreasing further to 15,397.

These new infections put the country’s COVID-19 caseload at 4,061,663 nationwide, with 3,980,490 recoveries and 65,236 deaths.

These new infections are also lower than the cases recorded on Christmas Eve at 834, as well as the average daily infections recorded from Dec. 12 to 18 at 1,082.

Metro Manila, meanwhile, continued to lead the list of regions with the most number of cases in the past two weeks with 4,887 cases, followed by Calabarzon at second with 2,181 infections, and Central Luzon with 1,057.

In terms of areas with the most cases, Quezon City led with 1,186 infections followed by Manila which had 638, and then Cavite with 612.

Meanwhile, 6,252 tests were conducted on Saturday, and the results from these tests will be reflected in the number of cases on Monday.
