The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has suspended during the holiday break the registration of voters ahead of the village and youth council elections next year. The Comelec said it would temporarily stop voter registration at all Comelec field offices and satellite registrations sites nationwide on Dec. 25, a regular holiday, and on Dec. 26, which was declared a special nonworking day. Voters may apply from Dec. 27 to Dec. 30 before the Comelec closes the registration again on Dec. 31 and the first two days of 2023. Jan. 1 is a regular holiday and Jan. 2 is an “additional special nonworking day.” —Kathleen de Villa
