MANILA, Philippines — The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) reported smooth traffic flow along major roads in Metro Manila on the morning of Christmas Eve but noted that traffic jams may return on December 27.

It said that easy travel is expected in Metro Manila from Saturday, December 24, until Monday, December 26, which has been declared by the government as an additional special non-working holiday.  Christmas Day, December 25, which falls on a Sunday this year, is a regular holiday in the country.

“Good news po ‘yan. Sa mga pangunahing lansangan, wala tayong nade-detect at na-o-observe na traffic sa mga oras na ito,” MMDA Metrobase’s Angelo Raselis said in an interview with Teleradyo on Saturday morning.

(We have good news. On our main roads, we have not detected or observed any traffic at this time.)

“Maluwag na maluwag po tayo maging dito sa may Edsa, Commonwealth. Wala po tayong major traffic… ‘Yan po ang aasahan natin, hanggang Lunes po ‘yan kasi dineclare na holiday,” he added.

(The traffic is very light, even in Edsa, Commonwealth. We do not have major traffic. Expect that until Monday because it was declared a holiday.)
