The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) on Friday released the list of certified brands of fireworks and firecrackers, which have been product-tested and thus safe to use for the upcoming New Year celebrations.

The trade department’s Bureau of Philippine Standards, issued the list for the reference of consumers, reminding the public to only purchase those that bear the Philippine Standard (PS) mark for guaranteed safety and quality.

“The purchase and use of uncertified fireworks and firecrackers may result in damage to properties and cause fatalities. Hence, the DTI is here to remind all consumers to only buy and support certified fireworks produced by licensed and authorized manufacturers with [PS] License,” said Trade Undersecretary Ruth Castelo, who heads the consumer protection group.

14 brands

The list featured 14 brand names and companies, including Dragon Fireworks by Dragon Fireworks Inc.; Diamond by Diamond Fireworks Inc.; LF Fireworks by Legendary Fireworks Inc; Pegasus by Pegasus Fireworks; Phoenix by Phoenix Fireworks; Double L by Double L Fireworks and Nation by Nation Fireworks.

The others in the list are LLF by Luha Leonardo’s Fireworks Manufacturing; Andy’s Fireworks by Andy Moldogo Firecrackers and Pyrotechnic Device; Pyro Kreations by Pyro Kreations Fireworks; Yangco Fireworks by Yangco Fireworks Manufacturing; Starlight by Starlight Fireworks; A. Santiago Fireworks by A. Santiago Fireworks and 4Sure Fireworks by 4Sure Fireworks.

“Please note that the above list contains only PS-licensed companies as Republic Act No. 7183, or the Law on Pyrotechnic Devices, prohibits the importation of finished firecrackers and fireworks,” the DTI said.

The DTI also reminded that information found on the packaging of the products should include the name of the firework, the classification and intended use, the brand or trade name, the name and address of manufacturer, the words “Made in the Philippines,” warnings and precautionary signs, appropriate instructions for use, effects and the PS quality mark with license number.

All these should be clearly printed on a single-colored background on the package of each firework for the guidance of consumers, the DTI said.
