MANILA, Philippines — An additional 850 new infections of COVID-19 were recorded by the Department of Health (DOH) on Friday, bringing active cases to 16,994.
These new infections put the country’s COVID-19 caseload at 4,060,236 nationwide, with 3,978,049 recoveries and 65,193 deaths.
These new infections are also lower than the average daily infections recorded from Dec. 12 to 18 at 1,082.
Metro Manila still led the list of regions with the most cases in the past two weeks with 5,164 cases, followed by Calabarzon at second with 2,253 infections, and Central Luzon with 1,205.

In terms of areas with the most cases, Quezon City led with 1,230 infections, followed by Manila which had 686, and Cavite, with 659.
Meanwhile, 9,710 tests were conducted on Thursday, and their results will be reflected in the cases tally on Saturday.
