Comelec suspends voter registration on Dec. 24-26, 31, Jan. 1-2

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Wednesday said that it will begin its pilot testing of the “Register Anywhere” system in Metro Manila, allowing the public to register in places other than their residence.

MANILA, Philippines – Voter registration has been suspended from December 24 to 26 and 31, as well as January 1 to 2, as the country celebrates Christmas and New Year, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) announced Friday.

According to Comelec’s advisory, all Offices of the Election Officers (OEOs) and satellite officers nationwide will be closed on these dates.

“The Commission on Elections hereby informs the public that pursuant to Resolution No. 10868, voter registration will not be conducted on December 24 and 31, 2022, or on Christmas Eve and the last day of the year, respectively,” said Comelec in an advisory.

“Likewise, voter registration will be suspended on December 25 and 26, 2022 and January 1-2, 2023, pursuant to the Memoranda dated 12 and 22 December 2022 of the Office of the Executive Director (OD) and the Election and Barangay Affairs Department (BAD), respectively,” it added.

With these dates, voter registration is set to resume on January 3, 2023, Tuesday.
