MANILA, Philippines — Two days before Christmas, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) recorded 21,955 outbound passengers and 17,797 inbound travelers in all ports across the country.
In a statement, the PCG said that the figures were logged on Friday, midnight to 6 a.m.
The PCG deployed 2,001 frontline personnel in 15 PCG districts. The personnel have inspected 207 vessels and 69 motorbancas.
The PCG is on “heightened alert” from December 15 to January 7 to manage the volume of port passengers during the holiday season.
As of December 21, the PCG listed a total of 907,429 outbound passengers and 797,404 inbound travelers in the country’s ports.
