WEATHER UPDATE title card. STORY: Looks a lot like a cool, wet Christmas – Pagasa

MANILA, Philippines — Filipinos may experience a cooler and wetter Christmas due to the northeast monsoon, or “amihan,” and a low pressure area (LPA) near the Philippine area of responsibility, the state weather bureau said on Thursday.

The LPA east of Mindanao may bring light to moderate rains in the Visayas and Mindanao until Christmas Day, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

The LPA was last seen 280 kilometers east of Surigao del Norte but is not expected to develop into a typhoon.

Cloudy skies with scattered rains will prevail in Eastern Visayas, Central Visayas, and Caraga region.

The weather in most parts of Luzon is expected to be cooler because of northeasterly winds in addition to intermittent and light rains.

Metro Manila’s temperature will range between 24 and 31 degree Celsius, Baguio 17 ºC to 20ºC and Tagaytay at 22ºC to 29ºC.

Pagasa warned of possible flooding and rain-induced landslides, especially in areas that are susceptible to these hazards.
