BuCor picks down to 2
MANILA, Philippines—President Benigno Aquino III said he had narrowed his choices for the next head of the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) to two.
In an interview with reporters, Mr. Aquino said one of the candidates was also being considered for another post that would open up in July.
“With the BuCor, we have narrowed it down to two candidates,” the President said. “There is one candidate actually for two positions and I have to make an announcement soon on this. He is actually needed in both slots.”
Asked what the second post was, Mr. Aquino said he wasn’t ready to announce it yet. “The other position will be announced in July,” he added.
Meanwhile, Justice Secretary Leila de Lima on Tuesday gave five BuCor officials three days to explain why they should not be sanctioned for the out-of-prison trips of homicide convict former Batangas Gov. Jose Antonio Leviste. With a report from Marlon Ramos
