NCR’s COVID-19 positivity rate drops to 13.1% — Octa

MANILA, Philippines — Metro Manila’s COVID-19 positivity rate decreased from 14.5 percent to 13.1 percent within a week, according to OCTA Research fellow Guido David on Thursday.

In a social media post, David compared the positivity rate on Dec. 13, 14.5 percent, to the rate recorded on Dec. 20, 13.1 percent.

This translated to a reproduction number of 0.91.

“The 7-day average of new cases decreased from 447 to 404, a growth rate of -10 percent,” David explained.

It can be recalled that the Department of Health (DOH) recorded 7,752 infections of COVID-19 from Dec. 12 to 18 — translating to a daily average of 1,082 —  which was lower than the documented infections the previous week.

1,031 infections recorded on Thursday

Meanwhile, the DOH recorded 1,031 fresh infections of COVID-19 on Thursday, which is higher than the average number of infections recorded last week.

With this, the country’s COVID-19 caseload sits at 4,059,639, with 16,900 active cases, 3,977,297 recoveries, and 65,172 deaths.
