Manila policemen responded Saturday evening to a rape complaint that turned out to be false, but stumbled upon a badly wounded street gang member who had been repeatedly stabbed in Tondo. Members of the police detachment in Moriones encountered Richard Tan, 25, a member of the so-called Commando Gang, as he was gasping for breath after being attacked. Tan was later pronounced dead upon arrival at Gat Andres Bonifacio Memorial Hospital. The policemen saw the stabbing victim in the street as they were heading back to the station after responding to a rape complaint in the Parola area. Jeannette Andrade
