PCG logs 907,429 outbound, 797,404 inbound travelers so far as holiday nears

MANILA, Philippines — About 900,000 outbound passengers and 700,000 inbound passengers have been recorded by the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) as people travel for the Christmas holidays.

In a message to reporters on Thursday, the PCG said that it logged a total of 907,429 outbound and 797,404 inbound passengers from December 15 to 21.

The PCG is monitoring the number of passengers as they implement Oplan Biyaheng Ayos: Pasko 2022 to manage the surge of port passengers during the holiday season.

For December 22, the PCG listed 83,507 outbound and 92,302 inbound passengers as of posting time.

The figures, logged from midnight to noon, were from all ports across the country.

From midnight to 6 a.m., there were 26,713 outbound passengers and 21,569 inbound passengers.

Meanwhile, there were 56,794 outbound passengers and 46,651 inbound passengers from 6 a.m. to noon.

The PCG is on “heightened alert” from December 15 to January 7 next year amid increased mobility during the holiday season.
