Belmonte top mayor in Metro Manila poll

Quezon City’s consistent performance based on the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) competitiveness metrics is an indication and a reminder that the city is on the right track, Mayor Joy Belmonte said.

Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte emerged as the best performing Metro Manila mayor with a 95-percent approval rating, according to a survey of the RP-Mission and Development Foundation Inc.

Belmonte’s job approval rating hit 90 percent in November from 68 percent in March. At second place were Caloocan City Mayor Dale Malapitan and Malabon City Mayor Jeannie Sandoval, and Navotas City Mayor John Rey Tiangco with 90-percent approval.

Pasay City Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano and Mandaluyong City Mayor Benjamin Abalos Sr. were in third with their 89-percent approval.

At the House of Representatives, the top five district representatives in the Philippines were also named.

Gloria Macapagal Arroyo of Pampanga’s second district and Ramon Jolo Revilla III of Cavite’s first district received 95% job performance ratings.

Cebu legislators Duke Frasco (District 5) and Pablo John Garcia (District 3) ranks second with a 94% performance score.

Kristine Meehan-Singson of Ilocos Sur (District 2), Sandro Marcos of Ilocos Norte (District 1), and Toby Tiangco of Navotas City are tied for 3rd with 93 percent assessment points.

Lorenz Defensor of Iloilo (District 3) is fourth with 92%. With 90 percent, Joey Salceda of Albay (District 2), Gerryboy Espina Jr. of Biliran, and Ando Oaminal of Misamis Occidental (District 2) placed fifth.—ABBY BOISER
