MANILA, Philippines — The northeast monsoon and the low-pressure area (LPA) located east of Mindanao will continue to bring rain in some parts of the country, said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

According to Pagasa weather specialist Veronica Torres in a public weather forecast Wednesday, the LPA was last located 190 kilometers east of Hinatuan, Surigao Del Sur, and continued to have low chances of escalating into a storm.

Meanwhile, the northeast monsoon is expected to rain over eastern Luzon on Thursday.

“Dito sa may bandang Bicol Region inaasahan natin by tomorrow ang maulap na kalangitan at pagulan, sa silangang bahagi ng Luzon ay magiging maulap pa rin na may pagulan,” said Torres.

(Here in the Bicol Region, we expect cloudy skies and rain by tomorrow, while in the eastern part of Luzon, it will still be cloudy with rain.)

“For Metro Manila at nalalabing bahagi ng Luzon, partly cloudy to cloudy skies na may pagulan pa rin,” she added.

(For those in Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon, they will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with some rain.)

Cloudy skies and rain are also still expected over Eastern Visayas and the eastern section of Mindanao due to the influence of the LPA.

On the other hand, relatively fair weather will prevail over the rest of Visayas and Mindanao, with partly cloudy to cloudy skies with chances of isolated rain and thunderstorms.

Gale warning is still raised over the seaboards of some areas in Luzon, specifically in the waters of Batanes, Cagayan (including Babuyan Islands), Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, Isabela, Aurora, and the northern coast of Quezon (including the northern and eastern coasts of Polillo Islands).
