Fair weather in most of PH seen in next 5 days

MANILA, Philippines—Most of the Philippines will have fairly good weather in the next five days as there is no low pressure area seen to dampen the Holy Week although some parts of the country may  experience rain, the state weather agency said.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said clear, blue skies and warm weather is expected over most of the country, particularly Metro Manila and southern Luzon, until Good Friday.

For the past week, intermittent moderate to heavy rains and thunderstorms caused by the tail-end of the cold front plagued the capital and surrounding provinces.

In its Holy Week weather advisory, Pagasa said no low pressure area was sighted in Philippine waters that could put a damper on the observance of the Holy Week.

However, the eastern seaboard might see downpours in the afternoons and early evenings, thanks to the tail-end of the cold front, which generates masses of clouds and strong wind.

The effects of this weather system could be felt in northern and central Luzon, where chances of rains and gale are high, Pagasa said.

As such, the weather bureau warned that the seaboards of Luzon would have rough to very rough.

“Fishing boats and other small sea craft are advised not to venture out into sea while larger sea vessels are alerted (about) big waves,” Pagasa said.

Visayas and Mindanao, meanwhile, could also see isolated rain showers in the afternoons or evenings due to the easterlies.
