Rivers in Isabela swell due to heavy rains
CABAGAN, Isabela — Intense rains due to the shear line and northeast monsoon on Tuesday caused the level of rivers in Isabela province to rise, inundating the Cansan overflow bridge connecting Santo Tomas and Cabagan towns.
“It is already normal to travel by boat when floodwater submerges the overflow bridges,” Ronnie Bruno, a boat operator, told the Inquirer.
According to the Isabela provincial disaster risk reduction and management office, no villages were hit by the floods despite the torrential rains.
The shear line and the northeast monsoon continued to affect the Cagayan Valley region and nearby Cordillera provinces of Apayao, Kalinga, Mt. Province, and Ifugao, which have been experiencing moderate to heavy rains.
