LEGAZPI CITY — Classes at all levels in Camarines Sur were suspended Monday due to continuous heavy rains caused by the northeast monsoon and shear line.
In a memorandum, Gov. Vincenzo Renato Luigi Villafuerte said classes in both public and private schools were suspended as floods submerged parts of 12 towns since Sunday.
Earlier, the Office of Civil Defense Bicol reported that 122 families or 395 individuals were evacuated in the province due to the threat of heavy rainfall.
In Naga City, Mayor Nelson Legacion also suspended classes in all learning institutions, and workers in government offices and the private sector, who reside in flooded areas, were excused from work.
In its 9:30 a.m. rainfall advisory, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration in Southern Luzon said they raised an orange warning in Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Albay, and Sorsogon, which means that flooding and landslides were threatening the low lying and mountainous areas.
Pagasa said they raised a yellow warning in Masbate (Burias and Ticao Islands) and Catanduanes, which means heavy rains could trigger flooding. INQ
