COVID-19 transmission in PH still on plateau
MANILA, Philippines — The COVID-19 transmission in the country remained on a plateau a week ahead of Christmas festivities.
Based on the latest data from the Department of Health (DOH),1,306 new cases were reported on Friday, the third straight day that daily infections were at the 1,000 level.
Active infections, or those currently ill with the virus, were pegged at 18,910.
Meanwhile, pandemic monitor OCTA Research said the downward trajectory of the positivity rate in Metro Manila “could be a sign” that infections in the capital region were also slowing down despite the coming Holiday break.
“Numbers next week will confirm if the trends will hold,” Guido David, a fellow of OCTA Research, said in a Twitter post on Friday.
