MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. on Saturday said that the government is relying on local rice production over importation to supply Kadiwa stores.
Marcos ensured the steady supply of rice in Kadiwa Stores during a surprise inspection of a National Food Authority (NFA) warehouse in Valenzuela City on Saturday.
“Oo, mukha naman, so far. Nabawasan kasi, talagang binawasan natin yung importation, doon natin kinukuha sa local production,” Marcos said when asked if there is enough supply for the Kadiwa Stores.
(The importation was reduced and we get supplies from local rice farmers.)
According to Marcos, “this is already the season” where rice is steadily produced.
“Tuloy-tuloy na siguro ito para naman matiyak natin na ang Kadiwa ay hindi mauubusan ng commodities na ipagbibili at a good price na P25,” the President said.
(This is may already be continuous, so that we can guarantee that Kadiwa will not run out of commodities which can be sold at a good price of P25).
“Pero, siyempre, kailangang bantayan nang husto iyan. ‘pag tinamaan na naman tayo ng masamang weather, mararamdaman na naman natin ‘yan sa supply ng palay, ng bigas,” he said.
(But of course, we have to have it closely monitored, because once a typhoon hits the country again, it will affect the supply of rice.)
