Earthquake strikes Northern Samar and Davao Occidental
MANILA, Philippines — An early morning earthquake jolted Northern Samar and Davao Occidental on Thursday, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).
Northern Samar was jolted by a magnitude 4.6 earthquake at 3:44 a.m. Its epicenter was traced 16 kilometers northwest of Lope De Vega, Northern Samar.
Phivolcs reported that the tectonic earthquake’s depth of focus was 109 kilometers.
Phivolcs’ bulletin indicated that the Davao Occidental earthquake was magnitude 4.2 and was recorded at 4:42 am.
The earthquake of tectonic origin had a depth of focus of 48 kilometers.
Its epicenter was pinned some 231 kilometers southwest of Balut Island in Sarangani, Davao Occidental.
