San Beda’s Macalino bags 16-under crown of Milo Juniors Tennis

VISITING San Beda tennis player Pocholo Macalino made his trip here worthwhile after pocketing the boys 16-under title of the Visayas leg of the Milo Junior Tennis Cup, which came to an end yesterday at the Cebu International Tennis Centre Inc. (CITCI) in Laray, Consolacion.

Macalino survived a super tiebreaker against one of Cebu’s top netter Jan Godfrey Seno, 10-4.

Macalino won the first set, 6-4, but Seno leveled the match with a 6-0 blanking of Macalino in the second set.

In the girls 14, Allysa Mae Bornia went home with the title after outclassing Kristine Renee Salimbangon, 6-0, 6-2.

FEATURED STORIES

In the doubles event, the boys 18-under title went to the tandem of Marc Norman Enriquez and Jarryd Laurel, who dismissed the duo of Jessie Daniel Villarin and Edward Alomina, 6-4.

The girl’s title went to Sally Mae Siso, who partnered with Hannah Grace Espinosa, to dismiss the pair of Natalie Alipe and Edel Donaire, 6-1.

Seno and Jermaine Laurel combined to bag the boys 14-under title. They outsmarted the tandem of Elijah Arevalo and Derek Tabotabo, 6-2.

The girl’s title went to Bornia and Zethley Mae Alferez, who joined forces to thrash Salimbangon and Cherry Mae Toledo, 6-2.
