Before the election was started, outgoing CFA president Richard Montayre announced to the assembly that the election did not prescribe to the by laws of the local football association and that the rules, by laws and agenda of the assembly was overruled.

This after lawyer Julius Entise of the Queen City United made a motion to declare the list of qualified voters made by the CFA null and void and to allow all those present to vote during the election.

Earlier, CFA general secretary Bro. Mari Aberasturi only listed 25 clubs and schools to vote during the election based on their good standing with the CFA, their participation in CFA-organized tournament such as the Aboitiz Cup and that they have paid their dues.

However, Entise’s motion was unanimously approved, which disregarded the voting criteria.

Montayre tried to come up with a new voting criteria. But Entise insisted that the CFA cannot do so because only four members of the board were present.

He also suggested for the assembly to overturn the present CFA board at which point Gastanes had to intervene and warn them that they had to adhere to the agenda, which was the election.

“You are now talking about the dissolution of the board and I am worried. You have to follow the by laws, be careful of the motions that you make because what happens here will reach the PFF. You are warned,” Gastanes said.

Eric Nacorda of the Don Bosco United Football Club countered that according to the by laws, every member has a right to vote. However, he said that there is a provision that describes what it is and what it takes to be a regular member.

He then asked for the election to be suspended and for the assembly to come up with a committee who would review the membership of each club and school and thus come up with a list of qualified voters.

However, the representative from Uptown United insisted for the election to be held because to call them again to another assembly would eat up their time. Thus, the election was held with the notation. The newly elected members will have a month to choose among themselves who will sit as president, vice president, general secretary, treasurer and committee heads.  /CORRESPONDENT MARS G. ALISON
