8 drown in Rizal flash flood
LUCENA CITY – Eight jeepney passengers drowned on Saturday night (December 10) after their vehicle was swept by a flash flood while crossing a river in Tanay, Rizal.
A spot report from Region 4A police said a jeepney driven by Jun Pio Domeyeg Jr. was crossing the shallow part of a river in Barangay (village) Sta. Inez around 8:45 p.m.
Suddenly, a raging flash flood swept the jeepney and prevented the eight passengers from getting out of the vehicle where they eventually drowned.
Domeyeg managed to survive but allegedly left his passengers.
The police identified the victims as Terisita Quinto, Myller Kit Fernandez, Leonida Doroteo, Salvacion Delgado, Carmen Dela Cruz, Esmena Doroteo, and Avelino and Deodora Buera. The report did not specify the personal relationship between the victims with the same family name.
