Scattered rain showers will prevail over parts of Southern Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao on Saturday due to the shear line and the low pressure area (LPA).

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said that this weather disturbance may develop into a tropical depression in the next 24 hours.

The LPA was last seen 415 kilometers northeast of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur. Light to moderate with at times heavy rain is expected over Cagayan, Isabela, Aurora, Quezon, Mimaropa, Bicol Region, Visayas, Caraga Region and Davao Region.

These areas will be susceptible to flooding and rain-induced landslides, especially in places identified in hazard maps and with significant antecedent rainfall.

The Pagasa advised the public and disaster risk reduction and management offices to take measures to prepare for the weather disturbance. —ABBY BOISER
