TAGBILARAN CITY — At least 48 families composed of 180 individuals were evacuated Thursday night in Candijay town in Bohol province due to inclement weather caused by a low pressure area near Mindanao.
Jerry Lacang-Fuentes, head of the Candijay Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, said there had been flooding in low-lying areas since Thursday night due to heavy rains.
Residents from barangays Cambane, Luan, Panadtaran, and Canawa were brought to evacuation centers.
Candijay Mayor Thamar Olaivar, also the municipal disaster risk reduction management council chairperson, visited the evacuees and distributed food packs and bottled waters.
Classes in Candijay were suspended Friday to ensure the safety of students, teachers, and school workers.
There were no reported deaths or injuries as of 3 p.m. on Friday.
