LEGAZPI CITY — The Office of Civil Defense (OCD) in the Bicol region has placed all disaster response offices on red alert on Friday to prepare for the impending threat of a low-pressure area (LPA).

In a memorandum, Claudio Yucot, OCD Bicol director, said the emergency operations center was activated while all response clusters were alerted to lead in their areas.

The OCD advised local disaster officials to evacuate residents in high-risk areas if the situation worsened and prepare all the response assets for deployment.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said they expected cloudy skies and rains in Southern Luzon due to the LPA and the shear line.

In its 8:20 a.m. yellow rainfall warning, Pagasa Southern Luzon said flooding in low lying areas might occur due to heavy rains affecting Camarines Norte, Albay, Sorsogon, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, Oriental Mindoro, Romblon, and Marinduque. INQ
