Makati LGU names several barangays, police precincts as city’s child-friendly

The local government unit (LGU) of Makati named several barangays and police community precincts (PCP) in the city as the most child-friendly.

MANILA, Philippines — The local government unit (LGU) of Makati named several barangays and police community precincts (PCP) in the city as the most child-friendly.

During the 2022 Search for the Most Child-Friendly Barangay and PCPs, 10 barangays were recognized, as well as three PCPs. The search considered 33 barangays and they were considered based on income, population, and presence of elementary and high schools.

“The winners were feted on Tuesday in an awarding ceremony at City Hall attended by key city officials,” said the LGU in a statement on Friday.

According to the Makati City government, winning barangays who got five stars won P500,000. Those who got four stars received P250,000 while barangays with three stars get P100,000.

“Barangays San Isidro and Bel-air received five stars, while Barangays Southside, East Rembo and Pio del Pilar received four stars. Three stars were given to Barangays Poblacion, San Lorenzo, Pembo, West Rembo and Guadalupe Viejo,” said the LGU.

For the PCPs, P350,000 was awarded to those who got five stars while P200,000 was given to those with four stars. Precincts with three stars received P150,000, stated the Makati City government.

The Makati LGU said that Guadalupe, Palanan and Bangkal PCPs respectively received five, four, and three stars. All of the winners were also given seals by the LGU.

“Congratulations to all the barangays and PCPs who were vetted as most child-friendly this year. Because of your hard work and dedication, Makati continues to be a safe place for children,” said Makati City Mayor Abby Binay.
